This combination is used in the treatment of running nose and sneezing which occurs due to allergic reactions. It blocks the certain chemical messengers which is responsible for all these allergic symptoms.

Fexofenadine belongs to the second-generation antihistamine class. It is used in the treatment of allergic symptoms. It selectively blocks the H1 antagonist.
It is the active metabolites of terfenadine.

Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist and is used to treat breathing problems. It selectively inhibits the cysteinyl leukotrienes and is mainly used to treat allergic rhinitis.

Mechanism of Action-

Fexofenadine blocks the H1 receptor and prevents the hypersensitivity and allergic reactions.
It prevents the degranulation of mast cells and basophils.

Montelukast inhibits the LTD4 receptors located in the respiratory smooth muscle, airway macrophages and from eosinophils.

It is excreted unchanged via urine

Montelukast-
It is absorbed orally
It is 99% bound to plasma proteins
It is metabolized in liver
It is excreted via feces

Contraindicated in people with known hypersensitivity

Precautions-

It is used carefully if previously have kidney disease
